Veterinary Urgent Care Center, one of the first urgent care hospitals for pets in the country, opened its newest location in Worcester, Mass., marking the seventh hospital for the growing company whose roots began in Massachusetts.
Staff from Veterinary Urgent Care Center were joined by members from the Worcester Chamber of Commerce and local political leaders from central Massachusetts to officially host a Ribbon Cutting to commemorate the opening of the new facility.
Veterinary Urgent Care Center Worcester, located at 70 Gold Star Blvd., opened its doors on November 8 and is currently seeing patients.
“Worcester is a growing and vibrant community with limited resources for same-day veterinary care,” said Christie D’Andrea, DVM, founder and CEO of Veterinary Urgent Care Center. “Pet parents who haven’t been able to find appropriate level care when they need it will now have a place in Worcester to come seven days a week.”
Urgent care in veterinary medicine is for those instances when pet owners can’t book a same day appointment with their primary care veterinarian or when they don’t want to wait in long lines at 24/7 emergency medical centers for minor to moderate injuries and illness. VUCC Worcester will operate Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Walk-ins are welcome daily at all VUCC locations.
The company now has locations in Braintree, Dedham, Easton, East Providence, RI, Plymouth, Saugus and Worcester. VUCC has plans of expanding into Narragansett, RI in early 2025.
Massachusetts State Senator Michael O’Moore issued a citation to Dr. D’Andrea welcoming Veterinary Urgent Care Center Worcester into the area.
“Worcester is the hub of life sciences, colleges and universities, and healthcare. It’s great to extend that out to veterinary medicine,” said senator O’Moore. “People love their pets, and they treat them like family. It’s great to have a resource in the Worcester area.”
“We love the story of VUCC and love their spirit,” said Tim Murray, president and CEO, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. “We are happy to support VUCC as a Chamber and look forward to future success in Worcester.”
