Veterinary Urgent Care Center, a leader in urgent care for pets in the Northeast since 2017, announced it has appointed Heather Geddes, DVM, as the first Chief Medical Director for the growing practice. Dr. Geddes will oversee the veterinary staff and will ensure all standards of care for Veterinary Urgent Care Center (VUCC) are upheld at the hospitals across the company’s network.

VUCC opened its doors in 2017 and has grown to five hospitals in Braintree, Plymouth, Easton, Saugus and East Providence, RI. VUCC has plans of opening a Dedham location in January 2024.

Dr. Geddes graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2007 with a degree in Biology and Biotechnology. She continued her education at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She has been the lead doctor at VUCC’s Plymouth hospital for the last four years. Prior to her start at VUCC, Dr. Geddes completed a rotating internship in Northern California and spent six years as an emergency veterinarian on the South Shore of Massachusetts.

Dr. Geddes will also focus on the training of current and new staff and will lead VUCC in decision-making about best practices in veterinary medicine moving forward.

“I’ve had the chance to really see VUCC grow from a small practice to one that is bringing change to so many communities,” said Dr. Geddes. “It’s exciting to be part of a company that cares deeply about its staff, the owners who come to us and the pets we serve.”
