Urgent Care for Cats

Cats are purrrfect. But when your furry friend isn’t feeling well, we are here for them – and you – when they need us. Our hospital has a kitty friendly exam room to help our feline friends feel more comfortable when they visit.

What we do

VUCC provides walk-in service for things that require prompt attention – but aren’t serious enough to require emergency hospitalization. In most cases, our veterinarians can take care of your cat’s problem in less than an hour. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Minor bite wounds & abscesses
  • Fleas or ticks
  • Itching, over grooming, skin infections, or hair loss
  • Ear infections – head shaking, scratching or ear discharge
  • Urinary tract problems – blood in urine, going outside of the litter box
  • Straining to defecate
  • Vaccine reactions
  • Coughing or sneezing
  • Mild limping or lameness
  • Toenail injuries or overgrown nails
  • Drinking or urinating more than normal
  • Sedation for travel
  • Squinting & eye discharge
  • Mild vomiting & diarrhea
  • Not eating for up to 1-2 days
  • Routine vaccinations
  • General health screening
  • Blood testing
  • Euthanasia

What we can’t do

We can’t keep your cat for overnight stays, and we’re not equipped to handle cases that require hospitalization or advanced surgical care. If we diagnose a serious condition, we’ll discuss other options with you, including the possible need for an immediate transfer to a nearby 24-hour emergency hospital.
