Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that dogs can get from drinking out of contaminated water sources – such as lakes or ponds or even puddles. There is a vaccine to prevent leptospirosis, it is a 2 injection series that is repeated once yearly. VUCC recommends discussing all vaccines with your primary care veterinarian. Sadly 3 dogs lost their lives this preventable disease.
